Happy 2011

Happy New Year to everyone!!! Its hard to believe we are starting a New Year already. Just seems like we started 2010. I for one am very excited to have a fresh start. So much I want to accomplish this year. Of course I do tend to say that every year and I do get a lot of things accomplished. Last year I lost 30 pounds!!! That was probably my biggest achievements!!! This year I plan to loose at least another 30 pounds. I would like to loose more, but I would be happy as a pig in mud if I loose 30 more. The other things I would like to do this year is get back into my scrapbooking. I sort of put it on the back burner for the last 2 years. I had to separate myself from it for a while in order to get passed some other things that were connected. Things are good now and so I am ready to get busy with it again. I started out this past week digging all my photos out and separating them into these neat little photo albums that my girl Shelley gave me. I would give her a big hug if she were here right now, MISS YOU SHELLEY, cause these things are going to help me so much with knowing what photos I need to scrapbook.
Of course I would love if I had a few more of these, and of course no one has any available. But I am thankful for the ones I have and will put them to good use now.
The other thing I have been doing this week is getting ready for our first retreat of the year. We are going somewhere new this year and its right here in our own little town. Its not a fancy or big place, but there is plenty of space for us to have a great time. The best part is that it is close to home which makes it so much easier for everyone. Me personally loves to get completely away from it all and go somewhere different, but most everyone else has a hard time doing that. So we thought we would stay close to home this time around and see how it works out. So part of my getting ready has been planning some layouts to work on. I have been scanning the Internet for page sketches and ideas. I have been digging out all the unfinished pages and deciding what needs to be done to finish them, and I have been getting all my necessary tools ready to go. On the subject of tools, I spent the weekend refreshing my brain on how to use the "Make the Cut" program. Its a program you use with your Cricut. What I discovered was they have upgraded the program and now I can cut any image off the Internet. Now that has been super cool. Of course that has set me back a few days in planning my crop. I have been downloading stuff left and right and of course I have been having to cut some things to see if it really actually works. The answer to that is YES, it does work. Below is a layout of my son and you will see the cute little things I cut out on the right. The sailboat, the anchor, the sailors hat, and the boat wheel. All of this was images I googled, saved to my paint and then saved as a .png file and then uploaded to "Make the Cut", did a little editing, cut, and then pieced back together. I still need to put some bling on all of them, but aren't they just the cutest.

One of the things I realized is that I will not need to buy another punch or die ever. I can find the images of the punches and dies online and cut them myself. Is that not cool or what. No more packing all my punches and dies and taking them everywhere with me. Just grab my Cricut, my laptop, and my projects. Anyway, needless to say I am pretty excited about all this stuff and cannot wait to put it to use this weekend. So with all that said, I better get off here and start back to work planning my projects. Much to do in a short time. Look forward to sharing lots of stuff with you this year. Hugs to all!!!
