My Black Friday Deals

Our shopping day was great. I met my friend at 7:00 a.m. at Walmart for those early bird sales. Now I was lucky to wait till 7:00, cause by the time I got there, most of the crowd had left. My friend said it was a mad house at 5:00 a.m. That was hard to believe since it was cold and rainy outside. I figured it would detour people from getting out. NOT!!! Anyways, guess what I purchased?? The Cricut Expression for 199.00. It was just too good of a deal to pass up. The machine and 2 cartridges. I was on the phone waking my husband up and convincing him of how much money I would save him if I took advantage of this sale. He of course agreed!!! He knew he would eventually be buying this machine for me, so why put up a fight. LOL!!! I have the smaller Cricut and just totally love it and have just about worn it out. Now I have one to leave at home, and one to take to crops. This will be helpful in loading it and unloading it from my bag. I can now keep it packed up and ready to go in a moments notice. I did have on my Christmas list to purchase a "Slice" and a "Big Kick", but decided to wait on both of those and go with the Expression. I really do think out of all the die cutting machines out there, the Cricut is indeed the best of the best!!! Of course that is my opinion only. I am sure others have their favorites as well. To each his own is what I say. I have the Cuttlebug, which I also love, and I have heard that it will cut the XL Sizzix dies that Sizzix has now made. If this is true, than there is no need to purchase the "Big Kick" I need to find someone who has one so I can see if this is true.

Anyways, the day did prove to be a good shopping day as I also purchased a 8GB USB Flash Drive for 17.00, 2 Dickies shirts for my Son for 15.00 each, 2 hooded shirts for myself for 10.00 each, and a bottle of Cologne for my Girly Girl for 5.00. To top off the day, a little scrapbooking time with friends and then dinner. I cannot think of a better way to end a perfectly good shopping day.

Wonderful day!!!

Awwwww, today was wonderful. I think it was probably one of my most favorite Thanksgivings that I can remember. The food was soooooo yummy!!! There was so much of it. I tried to eat a little bit of all of it, wishing all the while, that I could have a whole lot of all of it. My tummy just would not let me have that much. I really did try though. The cake turned out wonderful. Two thumbs up!!! The Brownie truffle was sinfully good. There was several kinds of sweet salads and I really could not tell you which was my favorite. I did try them all. The Sweet Potato Bake should have been on the dessert table. UMMM!!! UMMM!!! The best part, was I got my Moms secret ingredients for the Cornbread dressing. Something has been missing for several years from my dressing and today, I got the missing ingredients. Well at least I think I got them all. One may never know for sure, but I do plan to make some and see.

We had 13 of us. My family and my friends family. We were just like one big happy family. We all fit together like peas and carrots. The only thing I wished, was that we could have spent more time together. Sometimes you just hate to see the day come to a close and everyone leave. As the saying goes "All good things must come to a end" Who made up that saying anyways!!! Stupid saying!!!

After all was said and done, my friend and I decided we needed to meet at Michael's and take part in the early sales. They had their Cricut cartridges on sale for 29.99, and so I got me one. Yes only one. I had most of the ones they had on sale, but I did manage to find one that I did not have and have been wanting. I bought the New Arrival Baby cartridge. It is so darn cute. I cannot wait to play now. I have somewhere bookmarked a very cute little book made from that cartridge. I will be searching my favorites in the next week. I also bought a Ott Light. They had them on sale, plus I was able to use my 20% off and so that made me pay around 15.00. It is soooo tiny and cute. But don't let tiny fool you. It puts out big bright light for such a little lamp. I am very excited about having it. You know its really the little things that make us the happiest. Well for me anyway.

Tomorrow, more sales. I will be shopping the day away. I will be going with my friend, so I will let her navigate. If you want to go where the deals are, than you want to go with her. She knows how to shop!!!

I really do hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving day, and you are now sitting around fat and happy!! Dear Lord if you cannot make me skinny, would you please make my friends fat!!! Now that is a great saying!!! (wink, wink)

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! Well its almost Thanksgiving. The last 2 days I have been preparing for my family, and my friends family, to come for dinner. I have been cleaning, preparing my menu, shopping, and baking. Its funny how this sort of thing can get you in such a good mood. I truly do love the holidays and being surrounded by all those that I love. Here is the menu:

Cornbread Dressing

Green Beans

Rice Casserole

Corn Casserole

Mac and Cheese Bake

Fruit Ambrosia

Candy Apple Delight (Pampered Chef Recipe)

Pink Stuff

Banana, Pineapple, Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Icing

Brownie Truffle

Pumpkin Pie

I do think we have the dessert table covered. You know you do have to make everyone's favorite. Sad thing is they are all my favorite as well. I really have not met a sweet I did not like.

The Banana, Pineapple, Carrot Cake is the only thing on the menu that I am not familiar with. I got the recipe from one of my husbands, co-worker, years ago and I am finally giving it a try. I have tried the cake when his wife made it, and it is heavenly. It is a gorgeous cake!!
Banana, Pineapple, Carrot Cake

3 cups of flour

2 cups of sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tsp soda

1 tsp cinnamon

Mix together in large bowl. Add

2 cups of thinly sliced bananas

1 can of crushed pineapple

1 cup of chopped pecans

3 eggs

1 1/2 cup oil

1 tsp. vanilla

Beat until blended, but do not over beat. Bake in greased/floured Bundt pan at 325 degrees for 55 minutes, then 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Do not open the oven during this time.

Let cool completely before icing.

Cream Cheese Pecan Icing

1 8 oz. Cream Cheese

1/2 stick of butter

Beat till smooth. Add

1 box of powered sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

1 cup of chopped pecans

Beat until all blended and then spread on cake.

Yum!! Yum!!! Lets just hope it taste as good as it looks. This icing is Devine!!

Jello Fluff/Pink Stuff
This has been a holiday tradition at our table for as long as I have been married to my husband, which has been 25 years. This was my sweet MIL's favorite dish and the rest of us enjoyed seeing it at the table. So in honor of her, I decided to continue the tradition. It is very good fluff/stuff and very quick and easy to make.

1 regular box of raspberry jello

1 container of cool whip

1 can of Pineapples

1 cup of chopped pecans

1 8oz of sour cream

In a bowl pour the can of Pineapple and raspberry jello. Blend together and let set for 20 minutes.

Then add in the sour cream, cool whip and pecans. Blend it all together and then refrig for several hours or until firm. Overnight is best.

My Favorite Pumpkin Pie recipe is on the back of the Libby's Pumpkin can. I have tried many recipes, and this is the one I love the most. Its very, very easy and always comes out perfect.

1 can of pumpkin

1 can of evaporated milk

3/4 cup of sugar

2 eggs beaten

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp of cinnamon

1/2 tsp of cloves

1/2 tsp of ginger

9 inch pie crust

In a bowl mix sugar, salt, cinnamon, clove, ginger. Add in can of pumpkin, beaten eggs. Blend completely. Pour in milk a little at a time, blending as you pour.

Pour mixture into pie crust and bake in preheated oven at 425 degrees for 15 minutes and then reduce heat to 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife comes out clean. Let cool for 2 hours, then serve with whip cream or refrigerate.

A Raggedy fun weekend!!!

This weekend was awesome. I went to my friends house for 3 days of awesome girlfriend time, yummy food, and drum roll please................... Raggedy doll making!!! Yes, you heard me correctly. I spent the entire weekend working on a pattern that I bought quite a while back from my most favorite Raggedy friend De. She has so many wonderful, adorable patterns for you to purchase. Go take a look if you would like to find the cutest Raggedy dolls and patterns ever. Here are my finished dolls. I made these for my friends birthday. They really do not look a lot like the pattern picture. I have never been good to follow a pattern exactly. I do think they are cute though, and I hope she liked them. Now to get started on another set. I kinda got attached and now need to make me a set. " I Got You Babe" Lizzie Ann and her Man!!!

Tree of many colors!!

This is the tree in my front yard. I have not been out this year to take photos of this tree, so I used one from a few years back. This is a Mulberry tree. If you are familiar with these trees, than you know every summer I am busy stepping on and racking up mulberry balls. They are litterly a pain in my side, my rear, and mostly my feet. However, this is the most beautiful tree I have ever seen. Every single summer it is full of beautiful leaves and it shades my entire front yard. Its such a joy to sit in my swing under this tree. Then in the fall, those leaves turn to beautiful yellows, oranges and greens. At this particular point, all of my pains turn to happiness. I just love looking up into this tree and really enjoying its fall colors. I really am thankful to God for this tree. Of course you can also see in the photo, that there is tons of leaves to be cleaned. We usually get about 20 bags of leaves from this tree every year. I leave them on the ground as long as I can, because I just love the colors all over my yard. Its what I consider part of my Fall Decor. But eventually these leaves will need to be cleaned up, making way for those painful balls that will come in the summer. We as a family make clean up day of this tree a fun family event. We usually do this the end of November, the same weekend we decorate for Christmas. We rack and play in the leaves, and then we decorate the house with lights. This tree I must say has brought to our family, some very wonderful memories of time spent together, much more joy, than pain for sure. I really do hope this tree is around for a very, very long time.

Awwwww, I am finally free!!! Our last day of CHEC was yesterday. No more stressing about papercraft projects. I did have a great time with the class, loved each of my students tremendously, and I loved being a teacher. It was a awesome experience. I just did not like having to prepare for the class each week. It was pretty stressful to prepare for 20 projects. I usually found myself waiting till the last minute and then spending 2 days rushing to get them done by Monday. Yes I know, if I planned better and used my time better, I would not have had so much stress. I would have enjoyed the class much better. The problem with that is, I am not the type that can plan or use time wisely. This is something about me that I am slowly learning to except. I just need to learn my limitations and not take on such things as teaching a papercraft class. I need something much easier, like a game class, or something where there is little preparations involved. LOL!!! Anyways, just glad that I am done and now I can focus on some things I want to do for myself. I want to get my scrapbook stuff organized and plan some pages and I want to make some raggedy dolls. That's what I will be doing in the months ahead.

Did I mention to you that I am a Senior Angel. This is a organization that my friend Elizabeth shared with me. She always finds the best websites for us. I am totally loving this organization. One of the things I am not allowed to do is share information about my Senior, but I can share the fact that already, I feel like I am doing something so good for someone out there in the world. We all need things in our lives that make us feel good about ourselves. This is the kind of things that do that. Giving and helping others, always makes you feel good. Hopefully this place will be around when I become a Senior. Lets not talk about how close in the future that is getting to be. Go check out the website and sign up for a Senior. You will love it as I already do!!!

Today, I plan to gather my Raggedy stuff and clean a bit in my scrapbook room. I guess I best getter done!! Have a great day!!

Box in a Bag

So what have I been up to this weekend??? Well besides going to kids birthday parties and trying to feel better from my awful sinus/chest congestion, I have been working on teacher gifts. Our last day of CHEC (Christian Homeschool Enrichment Co-op) is tomorrow and I wanted to make Thank you gifts for all of Kadie's teachers, my class helpers, and board members. So I got busy yesterday and got them finished about 15 minutes ago. I decided to make the Box in a Bag by Diana Gibbs. These are the most adorable little gift boxes and so easy to make. I filled each box with hugs and kisses. I thought that was appropriate for a Thank you!!! Here are pictures. I made 15 of them. My favorite is the first picture.

Very highlighting day!!!

Well I finally did it!! I got highlights put in my hair. I have been wanting to do it for a long time, but just did not want to spend the money, because I knew I would want to continue to maintain it. My friend Shell told me that I could go to her hair dresser and it would only cost me about 25.00. I thought "No Way" So today my friend Deb and I met her halfway and we spent the day getting our hair done. She highlighted, washed, trimmed, and styled, all for $30.00. I was shocked. What was even more shocking was how awesome it turned out. Exactly how I imagined it to look. For this price, I want mind going back for touch ups. This was a totally fun day. Here are some photos my husband took when I got home. He really did like it a lot and that was very cool!!!

Good Times

I just had to share this picture of my Kadie girl that I took this past weekend on our camping trip. One of the reasons I love digital is that it allows you to take as many photos as necessary to capture that one perfect picture. This past weekend is defiantly one of those weekends that captures the heart forever. Despite the fact that I had laryngitis and feeling somewhat sick, and despite the fact that it was colder than I would have liked, I still really enjoyed the trip. There is just something very special about being out in Nature, close to a beautiful lake, and sharing that time with family and friends. Just totally unforgettable.

I have had a few request for photos of Little Red Riding Hood. I guess this story is called
"Little Red Riding Hood and her adventures on a Hayride Trick-o-Treat!!!

What fun she had!!!
