A couple of fun projects and a great weekend!!!

Can't beat that!!!
Starting with Friday, when one of my B.F.F.'s came over for some scrapbook time. I truly do enjoy these times together. Sometimes we get stuff done and other times we just enjoy each others company. This time, I actually got something done. Of course it took me the entire weekend, but I completed something. Those that know me, will be proud. I started THE Carousel Notes Purse and finished it on Sunday. I capitalized THE, because its a wonderful, but kind of a past tense project, that most people have already made. I am just a little behind. Not sure who created the original idea, but most Stampin Up demonstrators used it for classes. I first spyed this little cutie at my Stampin Up Demostrators house. She was having a class on how to make it and of course I do not pay for classes, cause I would rather be spending my money on supplies, so I went searching the internet and found the tutorial on Jan's blog at http://stampspaperscissors.typepad.com/stamps_paper_scissors/2008/03/the-carousel-no.html "THANK YOU JAN" She gives step by step instructions on how to make it "IF" you use Stampin Ups Note Cards. As for me, I did not have those cards handy, so I went shopping to find something similar. I found my cards at Michaels.
They were 5.5x5.5 size rather than 6 1/4 x 6 1/4, so I had to make my cuts different than hers. However, I am sad to say that I did not make a note of the cuts I had to make, so that means I cannot share that information with you at this time. I promise though to go back and make another and this time I will write down every cut and share them here on my blog. Or you can do like I did and just use her tutorial and change your cuts as needed. Here is pictures of my Carousel Notes Purse

This particular Purse, I have already given to one of my dear sweet friends. I sure hope she liked it as much as I liked making it. I have already purchased more cards for my next one.

I used

We R Memory Keepers Urban Window Collection

Textured RickRack Cards in Blue and Brown/white envelopes

Piercing tool

Stampin Ups Scalloped and Circle Punch

Stampin Up's Stamp Set "Think Happy Thoughts"

Hobby Lobby Friendship Stamp

Various Ribbon

Picture Frame Holders

Various Brads

Saturday was a fun and interested day. We slept in and then hung out at the house for a while as I worked on my project. Later in the day we went thrifty shopping. Oh how I love to thrifty shop. I found a few treasures and was very pleased. Then we headed home to get ready to go fishing at the Barge. We noticed a storm was a brewing and hoped that it would pass us up, but it didn't. So we hung out at the house until we were sure it was over. Of course while we were here, the electricity went off and we set here in the dark. So whats a girl to do when this happens??? She goes shopping of course. We headed to Michael's to save my husband money. LOL!!! I had 4 coupons that I had printed off the computer and they had to be used. So I picked myself up a couple of circle punches and another pack of RickRack Cards. Then we called the fishing barge to see if they survived the storm and that was a YES and NO answer. He began to tell us that the bridge that enters the barge had broke during the high winds. So people were not able to come and go from the barge. Oh boy was that disappointing to hear. So whats a girl do when she gets depressed??? She goes shopping. LOL!!! So we headed to my favorite store Walmart. We then discussed going to a movie instead of fishing, but my nature is much more stubborn than that. So I suggested we drive to the barge and scope out this broken bridge. I mean, the guy could have just been out of his mind or over exaggerating the whole thing. I mean he did just go through a very strong storm. He could have been stressed or something. So my DH rolling his eyes, drives me to the barge. He knows to not even argue the idea. LOW AND BEHOLD, the bridge was not broken. As I had thought it was not near as bad as he described. Only one piece was broken and it was easily repaired. So we were able to go fishing after all. We stayed there till wee hours of the morning. Not as wee hours as last time, but close.
These little guys stayed right by our fishing area almost the entire night. I could not tell if they liked us, or if the winds were just too strong for them to swim out and away. We decided that one was a white duck, which she was gorgous (had to be a she) just to danity not to be. The other was a goose. They stayed very close to one another. I imagined they were in "LOVE" The goose seemed very protective of the duck. If she ventured away, he was right behind her. Anyway, just goes to show you that "Birds of a feather, flock together". No matter what their feathers are.

We got home around 2:00 a.m. only to find that YES our lights were on, but our Air Condition was not. OH MY!!! It was pretty toasty in the house. My DH stayed up till 3:00 a.m. trying to figure out what the heck was wrong. He finally decided that we just needed to go to bed and he would deal with it in the later morning. So with every fan in my house blowing directly on me, (IT IS ALL ABOUT ME, ya know) we managed to go to sleep. It got a little stuffy, but nothing like I would have imagined. The next day Sunday, my nephew, our Air Condition Man, came to our rescue. The storm had hit a transformer which we did hear before we left. That blew out our thermostat. Can you believe that??? He said that anytime there is a electric storm, you should turn off your AC. No one had ever told us that before. He said we were very lucky. It only cost us 50.00 for a new thermostat. It could have cost us a lot more or our entire Unit. So praises to God for sparing us a huge cost. Our unit is only 5 years old and thousands of dollars that we just recently paid off. Lesson learned!!!

So now that the Air Condition was fixed, I started back on my Purse project. I got it done just in time to leave for Church. We had a great time at Church. It was share time which is mostly songs. It was fun to listen to various members share their favorite songs. After church I called my friend and she came over and I gave her the Purse. She seemed very pleased with it and sit and visited with me a while about her weekend. Always nice to talk with a friend. After her visit we, my DH, DD, DS, and myself all went to the late movies. My DH and DS wanted to see the movie "Wanted" and my DD and myself wanted to see the movie "Wallee" So they went their way and we went ours. I really cannot say who enjoyed their movie the best, but my DD and I really enjoyed "Wallee" and totally recommend it. Very cute animation about the future and Robots. Kind of out there, but cute. Of course my DH and DS thought their movie was the best of the year and my DS is going back again. So it must have been pretty good. Of course they both said lots of violence and cursing. I expected that much!!! Glad we stuck with "Wallee"

Thats it for the weekend. Another 2:00 a.m. night, which I slept till 11:00 this morning to catch up on my sleep. The rest of today, I made this adorable little milk carton. Another project that I will be teaching my homeschool kids in the fall. Here is the place where I got the pattern. DARN CUTE PROJECT and very easy to make. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ee/index.php/resources/tutorials/milk_carton_box/

Fill this with some candy and you have the perfect little gift for a friend!!!

Speaking of friends. I have decided to do a monthly R.A.K. Do you know what that stands for?? This is the definition from Wikipedia

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS is a purportedly selfless act performed by a person or persons wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual or in some cases even an animal. There will generally be no reason other than to make people smile, or be happier. Either spontaneous or planned in advance, random acts of kindness are encouraged by various communities. An oft-cited example of a random act of kindness is, when paying the toll at a toll booth on a highway, to pay the toll for the vehicle behind you as well.

So anyway, I decided every month till Christmas, I will pick a friend or 2 or 3, and either make or buy something special for them, to either show them how much I appreciate their friendship, or to cheer them up, or let them know I am thinking about them. I mean I do have every source available to me to do this. My scrapbook room is full of fun things I can make. So if you are my friend, and you are reading my blog right now, you could very well expect to recieve something in the near future.

Gotta go make dinner.

Get Smart

Last night my little family went to the Movie Tavern to see the movie
It was so totally hilarious. I have not seen a great funny movie in a long time. We all 4 laughed so hard. Its a must see movie if you feel the need to laugh. I just love Steve Carell. He is my new favorite funny guy!!! I would even put him in front of Adam Sandler for now. Its defiantly a race between the 2 of them. They both know how to tickle my funny bone. Go see the movie!!!

Oh What Fun!!!

This weekend was a grand weekend. Scrapbooking, Fishing, and Card making. What more could a girl ask for!!!

Saturday we went Fishing. Oh how I am starting to really love this new hobby of mine. Soooo relaxing to sit out by the Lake. This time we made it very easy on ourselves. We went to the area Fishing Barge in the early evening after things cooled off a bit and stayed till weeee hours of the morning. When I say weeeee, I mean weeee hours. We got home around 4:30 a.m. LOL!!! Yes, I know that was very late, but we were just having such a great time. We did not catch anything that was considered a keeper, but we did catch lots of small fish that were a huge challenge to get on the hook. Those would be called Brim and Crappie. They were smart little boogers I tell you. You had to be quick as lightening to get them out of the water. Mostly they just ate all of my worms. A couple of our friends came and joined us for a few hours. It was good to spend some time with them. The weather was perfect. In fact, we actually got a little chilly sitting outside on the barge. The moon was awesome as it looked like it rose from the lake and then entered the sky. The people there were friendly and I enjoyed visiting with them. I totally loved it and cannot wait to go back. We use to go to this place back in the early years of our marriage when my DH fished, more than he played Softball. Then Softball totally took over his life and everything else just went by the wayside. I do not remember it being as near the fun for me then, as it was this time. For some reason fishing has just taken over my heart and all I want to do is more of it. I just cannot explain. I think its just something that is totally relaxing for me. I do not have to do a lot of thinking or moving. LOL!!! I like both of those ideas. Anyway, here are a few of my favorite photos of the things we seen and the fun we had at the Barge. Sunday I promised my family a day of relaxing at home. We have been on the go so much this past month and we just needed to stay home and relax. The Sabbath is the perfect day for that and that is exactly what we did. DH was able to catch up on some quality movie time, while I did some fun cardmaking. I have bookmarked so many cool cards that I want to make and so I decided today to just go in and pick one to do. Here is the card I made I went with a Bella stamp http://www.stampingbella.com/ because for one I just love my Bellas, but mostly because I wanted to accomplish a few things in the process. I needed to mail a card back to a Sista Bella to thank her for a R.A.K. she sent me and I needed to mail a friend a card just because she has been having a bit of a hard time lately. I wanted her to know she was in my thoughts. So with those things in mind, I decided on making The Big Buckle Card. Oh was that ever the perfect fun card to do. I totally loved it. I found the instructions on Kim's blog at http://www.clearlyinspired.blogspot.com/. She has a video on her blog on the left hand side of her page Big Buckle Card. Click on that link, watch it and then make you a card. Its a great tutorial and you will absolutely love the results of your card. Thank you Kim for making this video tutorial and sharing the idea. I loved it!!!

Card RAK and Challenge

When I opened my mail today, I received a wonderful surprise. A fellow Bella RAK from CinderellaBella. This is EmmaBella. Isn't she just the cutest Bella. I can never get enough of the Bella's http://www.stampingbella.com/ . They are the funnest stamps ever. Thank you so much Sista CinderellaBella for the awesome card. LOVE IT!!!

Last night I completed my card challenge for last week. The challenge was a card sketch which is below. I found this card sketch on http://mysketchworld.blogspot.com/ Lucy creates and offers up some of the best sketches ever to play with. Thank you Lucy for all the wonderful page and card sketches that you create for us to use. I love them all.

This is my card below
What I really enjoyed about this card was all the layers that I did. The yellow checks is popped up with mounting tape and then the striped paper is popped up with double mounting tape and then the middle sunshine is popped up. So much fun to layer the paper. I love card challenges cause they really make you think outside the box. Sketches are one of my favorite. cause they give you just enough idea to get you started and your creation is always satisfactory. I guess you could say I am also a sketchaholic amongst all the other things I enjoy obsessing about .

Pretty Pinwheel

Just a quick bloggarooney!!! I wanted to share this cute little project I made last night. My reason for making this is that I am teaching a paper craft class in the fall to our Co-op home school group and I am looking for 10 plus project ideas. I found this idea on http://procrastistamper.blogspot.com/2008/01/pinwheel-parade.html blog site and thought it was adorable. I did not have the Pinwheel kit that she used on the first one, but I used her straw idea. It worked out beautifully. However, I did figure out that it is much too difficult for the kids, so I did order the Pinwheel kits that she suggested. They were cheap enough and look way easier. So when those come in, I will just have to make another example. They are so fun to make. Also I wanted to add that I took the pinwheel pattern that she had and turned it into a cutting file so that I could cut them on my Cricut. That will make it way quicker to get these adorable little pinwheels cut for the kids. Thanks to http://www.craftedge.com/ and http://www.inkscape.org/ for making such awesome programs that work well with the Cricut. It sure could have not been done without them. Totally recommend!!!

Going out on a Limb!!!

Yesterday was a exciting day at our house. We had a morning storm that blew in and out within about 30 minutes. It was fast and furious. It blew limbs down in various areas of our neighborhood. Our tree in the backyard lost a pretty good size limb right over my little craft building. It did not break off completely, so husband had to climb up in the tree to tie it off, so that it did not fall and crush my building or anything else around it. So with the help of my father, son, and a friend, he made the dangerous climb very high up on a very wobbly ladder. Was I ever nervous. Probably not near as nervous as he was though. Anyway with several hours of careful cutting and maneuvering, they managed to get the limb down safely. Here are some photos I took of the process.

Our Grand Camping Trip

I did talk hubby into leaving for the lake on Wednesday. He is so good to me!!! We got to the lake around 7:00 p.m. We went to the campsite, which we thought was going to be the ultimate campsite, pictures above. The first picture is us setting up camp. The second picture is me standing in the parking lot looking towards the camp. That is what we thought made it the perfect campsite. It was close to our car. Well guess what??? It was not the perfect campsite, cause the next morning was all sun. We only had a tiny bit of shade from a very small tree that I knew would not hold up for long. There was no hiding from the Sun. Even the campsite next to us, which was the one we were saving for our friends, was completely sunny. As you can see in the pictures we also took our dogs. Well that did not work out either. Sabbath whined all night long and Gracie got sick and did her business inside the tent, along with throwing up twice. So we decided to take them home. They are not camper dogs for sure. While my husband was gone taking them back home, DD and I decided to scout out the place. We finally discovered a new campsite that would suit our needs much better. So when hubby returned we moved our campsite. That was a job, but after the move we realized it was worth it. Here is the new campsite. Lots of trees to hide in from the Sun. Right behind the picnic table was a nice shady spot and a entrance to the campsite behind us which was the one we were saving for friends. It was completely shady on that side in the morning time, so it gave us a place to spend the morning while the sun was blasting down on our side. Then we could switch sides in the evening.
We were also even closer to the parking lot. That was way better too!!!
We also had better view of the lake from this site and a water hydrant closer to camp.

So this was the perfect campsite and once we were finally settled in, we started having fun. So Thursday night we cooked steak and baked potato on the grill. That was the ultimate dinner. I brought my Laptop and we rented the movie "Untraceable" Not sure that was the best movie for watching in a almost empty campground. There was only one other camper in the primitive area we were in and they did not show up until Thursday night. Before that, there was no one. So we set up the chairs and gathered around my Laptop and enjoyed our thriller movie. Afterwards we decided to walk around the campsites and just check things out a bit before going to sleep. Just wanted to make sure we were safe. While walking around we did manage to gather up some firewood that other campers had left from the weekend before. That was a good thing since we barely had any wood. Once we decided everything was safe for sleeping we went to bed. The wind was blowing very strong and so the cool breeze just flowed into our tent. I think Daughter and I slept very good, but husband had some hard times sleeping. Friday morning started out with a awesome breakfast of toast, bacon and eggs. YUM!!!! Then we made a trip into town to Walmart for a few extra supplies ect.... Once we were back, we did a little fishing and then my Son and his girlfriend arrived. After setting up their tent, we had lunch and played a game of Upwards. My son was the grand winner by only a few points of me. I let him have his glory!!!

Then our other friends started arriving and setting up their tent ect....
Saturday, my mom and dad joined us for a little fishing. We hiked down to a campsite that was at the edge of the cove. It was a very nice fishing place. My hubby caught 24 small fish, "A" I think caught a couple, and our baby girl Bree, even caught 2 of her own. Way cool!!! As for me, all I could do was get tangled up and kinks in my line. I did manage to catch a nice size STICK!!! I also managed to put a worm on my hook. OOOWWAAA... that was gross at first, but after doing it a few times, I adjusted to the idea and became a real pro. I even learned to leave a wiggly end on the hook as to attract the fish or sticks in my case. LOL!!! There is much to be learned about fishing.
After our fishing, we went back to camp for some much needed lunch. We set around for a bit and relaxed. Some took naps while others went for some yummy ice cream and popsicles. I discovered that the lake store has the best popsicles ever. So tasty and refreshing. Later everyone wanted to go for a swim on the beach. I just played photographer. No swimming in the Lake for me. I have not come to terms with that idea yet.

So after swimming we all took showers and settled in for dinner. We had yummy hot dogs and sausages, baked beans and potato salad. It was delicious. R.D. and A decided they needed to do some more fishing while the rest of us stayed and relaxed by the fire. Hubby and I ended up retiring early, cause we were just exhausted from being there since Wednesday night. I really could not tell you what happen after that moment, cause I just passed out. I think I remember hearing that a few stayed up pretty late enjoying the night breeze and stars. The next thing I knew it was morning. We started breakfast while others went to the nearest store for coffee. After breakfast everyone was ready to break camp and go home. Heat, sunburns and bug bites had taken their toll on most of us. It took us about 2 hours to pack up. As we packed we discussed our next grand adventure and all decided to wait till fall.. As sad as that made me feel, I guess I would have to agree. The heat is just to much for tent camping. Oh how I wish I had a camper. I would be there every weekend if I did. I truly do love being out at the lake and in nature. I always have and always will. Thank you friends for all the fun times this weekend and for putting up with the heat and bug bites ect.... It is defiantly going in my scrapbook of best memories ever!!!! and I cannot wait for our next big camping trip. Here are a few more pictures I took over the weekend that I thought were worth sharing.
