A Tribute to my MIL

My heart is heavy!!! It saddens me to tell you that my sweet MIL has passed away from this earth and although she is in a much better place from which we are most thankful for, we are left here in a very sad state of heart and mind. She died last Thursday at 1:00 p.m. after a 2 1/2 week illness from a infection that started in her lungs and then spread rapidly throughout her body. Even with 3 antibotics, she was just too frail and weak to fight it off. We had her funeral yesterday(Monday the 25th). She is now resting peacefully with Jesus!!! I would like to share some of the pictures from the slide show that we had at her service. Anna Doris

September 27, 1927-February 21, 2008

She was a real looker!!! A very classy lady. As long as I knew her, she loved flowers and bows in her hair. Even when her hair was short, she still wore them. Dresses, clip-on earrings, watches, necklaces, purses, and high heel shoes. I remember spending hours at JC Penny and Sears shopping for them all. If she bought a new dress, she bought a new purse, accessories and shoes. Everything had to match perfectly. Her favorite colors were Red, Pink, and Yellow. The Brighter, the Better. She was always trying to dress me up too. She hated that I was not a frilly kind of girl and that all I wore was the color black and t-shirts, jeans and tennyshoes. There were many times that she bought me dresses in hopes that I would change and wear them. On occasion, just to make her happy, I would!!! Because of her, I now own my very own, very bright, yellow flowered dress!!! Maybe one day, I will be as classy as her.
Her and my FIL on their wedding day February 6, 1945. 63 years ago!!! Her and my children on Easter a few years ago. She always went out and bought my children Easter outfits and shoes. She wanted them to look their best on this special day!!! Dresses, frilly socks, new shoes, and nice shirts. She would have liked my Son to wear a suit, but that was not going to happen. The best she could get him to do was a nice shirt. She would have been very proud of him at her service yesturday. He was so handsome in his suit and tie. He did it just for his Nana!!!
She also bought dozens of plastic eggs and filled them with change and 1.00 bills that she had saved up. My kids loved hunting Nana's Easter eggs. They will really miss her this Easter. She always made that day very special. ALWAYS!!!!

Her most favorite thing to do was to sit in her swing on her front porch. She would swing for hours when the weather was nice. Sometimes she would just sit and drink coffee, and watch the birds. Other times she would sit and crochet or read. Of course here in this picture, she is sitting in my swing. which is identical to hers, and smiling really big, cause her son was sitting with her. My husband is 1 out of 3 children. He is her baby boy, and she adored every inch of him. He just said today, one of the things he will miss most, is her sitting on her front porch on her swing. I am sure there will be lots of things he will miss about his Mother. She left us with lots of wonderful memories that we will cherish and spend talking about for many years to come. We will never forget her.

The last pictures I took of her were this past Christmas(2007). She had left us to go stay with my SIL (her daughter) for a while right before Thanksgiving. She was so happy to see us when we went to visit her at Christmas. We almost did not go. I am so thankful we did, or we would have not gotten these precious pictures and last Christmas memories of her. My DD loved her Nana and said she was her best friend. She really was a wonderful Nana. We will miss her so much!!!
Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers!!!!!

Happy Birthday To Me!!!

Happy Birthday to Me and Abraham Lincoln!!! I use to think that was so cool to have the same birthday as a US President. LOL!!! I am now the big 45. Its hard to believe I am already halfway through my 40's. So I guess I can now say I am in my MID 40's when someone ask. My friend Stacey brought me some flowers, cupcakes and a card. That was very sweet of her and really one of the highlights of my day. That and my friend Elizabeth calling and singing Happy Birthday to me, the many Happy Birthday emails I received throughout the day, my son and mother calling and my Carmel Frapp that my DH brought me. Does not get better than that. I am very blessed!!! My DD and I have been very sick the last few days with SOMETHING. I am not sure it was the FLU, but it was probably just as bad. I was thinking for me it was more like severe sinus infection, but it could have been Flu. We had achiness, coughing, severe sore throat, low grade fever, nausa, head and chest congestion, sneezing. Just plain miserable. Thank you Lord!!! we are on the upside now that the fever has gone. Its amazing at how much better you feel when the fever goes. My saving grace through this was all the awesome prayers from my friends and family(THANK YOU),my adorable sweet husband (THANK YOU), salt water, EmergenC, Tylenol Sore Throat, Halls Fruit Breezers and this wonderful Tea that some lady gave to us in the chineese resturant(THANK YOU). Drinking this warm tea made my throat feel so good. I am now hooked. I do not know who she was, but I would love to give her a huge hug for introducing me to this wonderful Tea.
My MIL is now out of ICU and resting comfortably in a private room. However, she is not doing a whole lot better yet. She kind of comes in and out of reality right now. The doctor insist its because of the infection and we just have to wait. It could be 10 days before we see a improvment. So we will continue to wait.

What a Week!!!

Woooooweeee, what a week!!! I have spent most of it at the hospital. My MIL is real sick again. Way back a few post, I talked about her being sick. Well we are back in bad shape, but even worse. We are not sure what to expect. She has been in ICU for 4 days with a infection that started in her lungs and now is moving over the body. Besides having her 80 year old age against her, she has congestive heart and emfazema from smoking for 56 years. She quit 10 years ago, but it was too late. So she is a very sick lady to begin with and now she has a infection to fight. We love her very much, especially my 8 year old Daughter. They are like 2 peas in a pod. So it will be very sad to loose her. So please lots of Prayers that she will pull through this and have many more years with us.

As for me, I have had a very sore, sore throat, cough, cough and more cough. Oh and don't forget the cough, cough, pee, pee. I really do hate having a weak bladder. I love my kids very much, but they left me with a weak bladder and that part I am not very happy about. So every time I cough, I have to squeeze those legs together and hope for the best. Its just no fun!!! But my children sure are adorable!!! I guess they were worth the sacrifice of a little ole weak bladder. (rolling my eyes)

Speaking of kids, my Daughter and my Son, whom does not even live with us, is sick with the same sore throat and cough. My husband is fighting it, but it seems to be getting him down as well. With trying to be at the hospital with his mother and fighting whatever this is, he is just worn out. I thought it was a really bad allergy attack, but I talked to my friend Dawn and she said her Daughter was also sick with the same symptoms. So now I am not sure. Something is in the air.

I did want to give you a WW update. I am now at 6.4 pounds. The last few weeks have been small losses. .2 and .6 and even though they were still a loss, nothing really to brag about. So at my last meeting, my leader talked about the 1 and 2 point snacks and how carb loaded they could be. So she challenged us to not eat as many carb points and get more veggies and protein points. So I did and it worked. I lost 2 pounds this week. I wonder what it would have been like if I had, had a chance to exerise. One of these days I may have time for that. I am sure it would go faster if I did, but for now I am happy with my 1 pound a week.

I did not have a lot of time, nor did I feel like doing much in the way of crafts or scrapbooking this week, but I did manage to stamp a little. I needed to make some little Valentine goodies for friends, so I got my new Stampin Up Valentine set, which I love and made 35 of these little darlings.
My Stampin Up Demostrator Denise http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/denisesullivan/ , showed us how to make these cute little treat thingy majigers!!! Sorry I do not know what they are called, but they are fun to make. You take a strip of paper 6 x 1 1/2 and score it at 3 1/2 and then again at 2 1/2. Then you fold it up and add adhesive to the top to keep the sides together and closed. Stamp the stamp of choice (hopefully this cute little tag from the above set) on white cardstock and then cut it out either using a tag punch or cutting with sissors about 1/8 around the edge and then add it to red cardstock and use a little bit bigger tag punch or again with your sissors cut again about 1/8 around the edge. Stick it to the folded piece. Punch two holes with your Crop-a-dile or hole punch along the top of your image(see photo below) and then add your ribbon. Then just add your chocolate on the inside.

There you have it. A cute little Valentines for your friends.

Well I am off to sleep land. You must know I am not feeling well when I go to bed at 10:30 on a Saturday night. Please, Please send up those prayers for my sweet MIL!!!! I will keep you posted of her conditon.
