Cute Gift Card Holder Template

Today we are going to a little girls birthday party and I made this cute little gift card holder. She is totally in love with the Webkinz. I thought this would be the best idea, so that she could go and pick out her very own. I went online and found this little template and downloaded it and then did some stamping, popping, and stickles. It was fun to make. Here is the website for the template just in case you want to make one for a gift in the future. You can just use the template part to trace on your own paper and be creative as you want. I just used the premade template for my card and added some extras.

Short and very Sweet!!!

This week in cake decorating class we all did a little "Clowning Around" Aren't they the cutest little clowns. They were very fun to make and really a lot easier than I imagined them to be. I am taking them with me to scrapbooking tonight and really hope I do not have to bring them back home. My hips just cannot take any more icing. LOL!!!!

I got this in the mail yesterday. What a wonderful treat. Its my new Cricut cartridge that I won from entering into the project spotlight for the newsletter. I never imagined I would actually win. Its really kind of exciting to get something for free. Especially a Cricut something!!!!

On the scrapbooking scene this week, I played around with my prisma pencils and baby oil.

I really like the results, but after doing several cards with it, I still think I like the mineral spirits better. I went back and forth all week trying to decide between the two techniques and what I discovered is that I am way to messy with the baby oil. It really blends well, but I had it all over me, my table and my project. It does not absorb and disappear like the mineral spirits does. If you spill the mineral spirits, it evaporates and no big deal. However, if you spill the baby oil, well you just have one big ole oily spot and a no easy to clean mess.

Well that's it for me. I know this is very short, but I just have been a lazy bum this week and nothing exciting has happened. Sometimes thats not a bad thing. That just means I had a very relaxing week.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!!!

Days Gone Bye!!!

Its really hard to believe that October is nearly half over. My favorite Fall Season is passing so quickly. I just want to stop time right now and keep it this way for the rest of the year. Well I guess before I stop time, I would like for it to be a little bit cooler. Maybe about 72 to 75 would be just about perfect. Then I would like to stop time. LOL!!!!

So whats been going on with me? Pretty much the same ole stuff. I have been doing my homeschooling with my DD. That is going pretty good. It could actually be better and I think it will get better as soon as I get myself organized. I am having great difficulty this last 2 months with organization. My time mostly being the problem. I spent most of my summer trying to get everything organized in my house, but spent little time trying to organize my time. I have this A.D.D. problem and so even though I can organize the heck out of something and it look great, the problem I have is keeping it that way. My time is probably my worst problem. I seem to think that if I do not have several hours set aside to do something, than I just cannot do it. I do not use my 15 minutes here and there to get things done. I just poof it off either on the computer or watching TV. Soooooo to fix this problem, one of my SisterChicks came over and brought me this awesome date book and gave me a wonderful time management lesson. Now the tricky part will be, to see just how good I am at keeping it all up. I have a feeling she is going to keep me right on track!!!! LOL!!!!

I know in one of my previous post, I mentioned I was taking a cake decorating class. This past Thursday was our second class and I actually decorated my very first cake. What a Lucy moment that was. I had icing from one end of my kitchen to the other and all over my body from head to toe. My cake, which was suppose to be small, turned out to be huge, cause I poured my batter into 2, 9 inch pans, rather than 2, 8 inch pans. I did not figure there was much difference. Well, there was very much a difference. So, because there was not much batter after pouring into larger pans, I made more batter. Ok, so I forgot that cakes do the rising thing. DRRRRRRRR!!!! Its hard to think of everything. So when I open my oven to check on my cakes, I have mountains. UGGGGG!!!! Ok so no problem, I will just shave the tops off with my handy dandy, cake saw, thingamajig. LOL!!!! Anyway, I ended up with 2 complete double layer cakes, rather than just 1 simple small cake. No big deal, except for my entire family is on Weight Watchers and we cannot eat that much cake. Each slice is like 12 points of my 28 points I can have a day. Good thing I have crops to attend, friends, friends of the Fire Dept. and neighbors to donate it all too. LOL!!!! Even with all that, I still have half a cake in my refrig. I wonder who else would like some cake........ I think my DH is really loving it. The butter cream icing is his favorite icing of all.

Sad news in our little household. Well its sorta sad news. I am not all that sad, but my DD is very sad. Mr. Nibbles died yesterday. I have no idea why, I just found him laying peacefully in his cage. It was the first time I saw him still since we got him. He was a very hyper little fellow.I guess we will be going to the pet store this week to pick out another little rodent friend. This time I think we will get a hamster. I think the rats just get to big for the size of cage we have. Plus, this last one was a biter and their bit is very mighty. So we will get something much smaller, with a much smaller bite, or hopefully no bite at all.

Our Putty Tat, Chloe, is really getting big fast. She is such a sweet kitty. She mostly hangs out with me in my scrapbook room. I just could not get nothing done without her by my side. LOL!!!! She is such a sweetheart.

Speaking of Scrapbooking. Look what I made.

I decided this weekend that I wanted to do something fun. So I went to one of my newly favorite blogs
http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/index.html that my friend "E" sent to me a few weeks back. On that blog, I found this cute little File Folder Tag Book. I totally recommend this site if you are looking for something cute and fun to make. She has lots of tutorials, including this little book, on her blog. Just go to the site and scroll down the page till you see Tutorials. Click and scroll down a few projects. You will find all the directions. You may have to alter the directons a bit to fit your file folder. Mine was different than hers, and so my measurements were slightly different. On my little Christmas tag book, I embellished with pattern paper, stamps, eyelets, brads, ribbon, fibers, stickers and my Cricut, Tags, Bags, Boxes and More, Alphalicious, George & Basic Shapes, Stamped, Mini Monograms and Fabulous Finds. I decided since I used so many of my Cricut Cartridges, that I would just enter it into the Cricut Newsletter contest. I have no idea if you can win more than once, but it does not hurt to try.

I have not yet finished my sketch challenge from last week, so I cannot show you it just yet. However, I do plan to finish it this week, and then I will present a new challenge for myself and whoever else would like to do it with me. So be checking back later in the week.

I want to mention my Fall Book Challenge. I do believe for "Me" I am doing very good at my reading. I just finished my first Challenge Book and the second book of the Sister Chicks Series http://www.sisterchicks.com/book_list.aspx I love these books. I totally recommend them, if you like reading books about friendships. They have given me new insight to the meaning of B.F.F. and Sister Chicks. They have made me feel like it is very possible to have such friendships in you life. Healthy, Fun friendships. Thats all it should be about I think. Just having fun with your girlfriends.
I also love being able to travel with these friends. The first book takes you to Finland and the second book was in Hawaii. After reading each of the books, I felt as though I had been to both destinations and spent the entire week with my best friends. I have now started my 3rd book, which is in Australia. I am only on chapter 5 and already I am hooked. I cannot wait to see what our next vacation adventure will be.
I now dream of the day that I will be able to take a trip with my SisterChick!!!

Last, but not least, I wanted to share my favorite Weight Watchers recipe. Its very low in points, very filling and very yummy.

Mini Tortilla Pizzas

I'm a winner!!!

Ok, remember the chest and night stand that I found on the curb a few post back. I took pictures of the before if you want to scroll back and see, well I finally got around to taking photos of the after to share. Here is my free curb furniture.

I cannot help but wonder what the people would say that threw these pieces away. Just a little gluing, sanding, and painting and that was all it took to turn the old furniture into new furniture. Well I know I am thrilled and so is my little girl. It looks fabulous in her new room. I will take photos of her room as soon as I get the curtains and shelves up. I want it to be completely complete before I show you.

Day 2 of my Weight Watchers is going great. Yesterday, I went over a few of my points that I am allowed, but lucky for me, they give you a point allowance each day. I can have 28 points a day and with my allowance of 5 extra points, I did good!!! My biggest problem yesterday was olive oil on my sub sandwich and eating a whole avocado. 2 very big NO, NO's. So you live and learn and learn and live. Today I knew what I needed to leave off and so this time with my Veggie sub, I left off the oil and mayo and just had vinegar and saved myself about 5 points. That gave me room to have some baked chips with my sandwich which made my meal more filling. Tonight I fixed Meatloaf Muffins. They were so good that I thought I would share the recipe with you.

Meatloaf Muffins

1 cup finely crushed fat-free
saltine crackers (about 20)
1 cup finely chopped
onion
2 tablespoons prepared
mustard
1 teaspoon
Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried
oregano
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground
black pepper
2
garlic cloves minced
2 large
eggs
1 cup
ketchup divided
Cooking spray
1 1/2 pounds lean Turkey meat
Directions for Diner Meat Loaf "muffins" (6 Points)Preheat oven to 350. In a large nonstick skillet spray cooking spray. On medium high heat, add chopped onion, dried oregano, and minced garlic; saute 2 minutes. Cool.Combine onion mixture, 1/2 cup ketchup, and the remaining ingredients except cooking spray in a large bowl. Spoon the meat mixture into 12 muffin cups coated with cooking spray. Top each with 2 teaspoons ketchup. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until a thermometer registers 160?. Let stand for 5 minutes.

I served my Meat Loaf Muffins with

Macaroni and Cheese made from whole wheat elbow macaroni and 2% cheddar cheese, 2 tablespoon of Smart Balance butter. Very yummy!!!

Also green beans with 1 tablespoon of Smart Balance butter and 2 cloves of fresh garlic and Mrs. Dash garlic and herb seasoning. Love that Mrs. Dash.

I have not figured up my points yet, but I am guessing around 10 for the entire dinner and that includes a piece of 35 calorie bread. I think I may have room for dessert. Let me think......

The latest news in my Scrapbook World is, I have been published in the Cricut Newsletter. http://www.cricut.com/newsletters/volume.aspx?ID=89 I know it does not sound like much, but because they chose my project to highlight, I receive a free Cricut Cartridge. So I am pretty excited. The project I sent in was the Starbook that I posted a few post back. Isn't that just the coolest news.

Weekend full of Fun!!!

Well my newest adventure this week is, that I am starting Weight Watchers. I am not actually joining Weight Watchers, but I am following the eating plan and point system that they offer. Several of my friends, which a couple of them have joined, are doing this with me. With their help and all the info available on the Internet about Weight Watchers, who needs to join. There are tons of recipes, point calculators, restaurant point list, food point list, tips ect..... Everything at your finger tips. All you have to do is make the commitment to yourself, and you are on the road to a new way of eating and hopefully some really great weight loss. I know for myself and my friends, we are all ready to make some changes in our weight, and so what better way to do it than together. And what better time I may add. The fall just seems like a great time to start new things and make some much needed changes.

I have been on somewhat of a nutritional eating plan for a long time, in order to get my cholesterol, triglycerides and sugar down or under control. So this eating plan will really be kind of easy for me and not much different than what I am already use to doing. I am hoping what will help me the most, is staying within the points I am allowed. I think that portion size is my biggest trouble area when it comes to eating. I tend to eat way to much of even a good thing. So I am hoping with the points that are allowed, that will help me cut my portions. The really hard part for me though is the exercise. I really do not like to exercise. Not even a tiny little bit. I would much rather sit on my bottom and do one of my many hobbies that I love. For a long time I would walk and sometimes as much as 2 miles a day. However, that became very boring after a while. But ,I know that if I do not find a exercise that I can enjoy, than I am not going to loose weight very fast. That's just how my body works. I can cut calories and still not loose weight. So my goal is to find a exercise that I can enjoy while doing this new eating plan. Together, I should be a much thinner person in no time at all. (he, he)

This past weekend was a really fun weekend. It started on Friday when 4 of my friends and myself went out for dinner to eat crab legs at our local Chinese restaurant. We decided that we needed at least one last high calorie, high fat meal before we started our new eating plan. We had the best time together. I took my camera to get some photos, but my battery was dead. Whats new!!!! However, I did get a picture of our new dinner Mascot. You will recognize him as soon as you see him. His name is Sebastian (Little Mermaid) and he is the cutest little crab ever. I found him in a Home School freebie box at bowling and I knew the second I saw him, he would be perfect for our crab eating get together. We set him right dab in the middle of our table. Well really, I think he was more closer to the end where my friend Debbie, whom is our biggest Crab lover, set. Her crab eating partner was not able to join us for dinner and so he kept her company while she ate her crabs. He and she became best friends by the end of the night. I really don't think she wanted to part with him at the end. LOL!!!!
On Saturday a small group of us from our COTC scrapbook group went to a "All day Church Crop" What a nice relaxing day it was. I have been to this crop 2 other times and this is the first time I truly enjoyed the crop. There was wonderful food and a lot of it, wonderful drawings and prizes, free gifts, a scrapbook garage sale, lots of scrapbook supplies for sale, a couple of foot massage chairs, which was awesome, and more wonderful food. Here is a picture of some of the stuff that I won in the drawings or received for free for signing up for the crop.
We also had some really great Make-n-Takes during the day as well. Here are a few of the things we made.
I did manage to complete my page and card challenge while I was there. If you see the post before last, you will see the challenge I offered on my blog. It was a sketch challenge and it was so much fun. I loved using the bright colors and using all the scraps to make the card, It really made for very little waste by doing that. In fact, I had no scraps left at all. Of course there was a few boo boo's and a little more paper needed for those, but still no scraps left. Just a few stickers was all.

What a great day it was. I always question myself when it comes to this crop, because I often ask myself is it really worth the 20.00 I spend to go. This time I can actually say that it really was worth the 20.00 and maybe plus more. Will I go back again??? In the past I would say absolutely not, which meant very little, since I always went the next time around anyway. However this time I will say that it all depends on the company I keep and where I sit. One of the things I loved most about this time around, was that we were way over in the corner opposite from those that make my life uncomfortable and crowded. We were able to laugh and be our self without disturbing those around us. So yes, I would go again if the circumstances were the same as they were this time around. It was a completely fun day from the beginning to the very end and the thought of going again is not near as negative as it has been in the past.

Sunday I spent most of the day running errands. I went over to see my parents to pick up some pears that my dad picked from a pear tree. YUM, YUM!!! My favorite, favorite fruit. Then we went and had lunch, then to the Barnes and Noble to do a little reading on a diet book "The Fat Flush Plan" that I have been most interested in reading. No I did not purchase it just yet. I just stayed for a bit and did some speed reading over the important areas and grabbed a few recipes from the book. Then off to Michael's to purchase some more cake decorating supplies for my upcoming cake decorating class. Then we made our usual weekly trip to Wal-mart and then to the grocery store for much needed groceries. Back home to unload the grocery's and then back over to my moms for some "Your Favorite Chocolate Cake" Yes that was the name of the cake recipe and YES it was my favorite chocolate cake. I only let myself have 2 bites. I needed one for taste and then the next bite to savor the flavor. She made a divinity icing for the cake, so you can only imagine what it taste like. Let me just say "OH MY GOSH" I wish I had my camera so that I could have taken a photo. It was a most beautiful cake. I jotted down the recipe, but who knows if I will ever make it. I think it is a cake that should be left for the cake making experts. My mom being one of the best southern bakers and cakes being her specialty, that I have ever met. I have never tasted anything bad, that she has ever baked. Even her Bran bread is wonderful.

The last thing I want to add before I close this post is, that I am posting this weeks page and card sketch challenge. This is from http://www.pagemaps.com/ I selected 2 different pages, because I have so many of those 2 and 3 picture events. Not enough to do a 2 page spread. So I will actually be doing 2 different pages with 2 different events. However, I do believe these sketches will do very nicely with a 2 page spread of 1 event. So my challenge to you is to use these sketches this week with your pictures. You can do like me and do them for separate events or use them together for 1 event. Then I challenge you to use the scraps from your page to create a card using the card sketch below. I would love, love to see what you do with these sketches. So please leave me the link in my comments to your blog or photo album where you will have it uploaded. Have fun!!!

That's it for today. Hope all is good in your world!!! Talk with ya very soon!!!
