And Baby makes 3

OK, before we talk scrapbooking or anything else, here is the best news of all. We have a new baby in our little friendship circle. Her name is Brooklyn and she is soooooo adorable. She belongs to one of my best sistahfriends, Elizabeth http://texasjoy.blogspot.com/ This is her first grandchild and we are all thrilled to be able to share this experience with her. What could be better than a new baby in your life. Just makes my heart all warm and fuzzy.

I am soooo sorry for being a lame blogger the last 2 weeks. It was brought to my attention that I have not posted since the 10th of July. I was a little shocked that time has flown by so quickly. The summer is almost gone. This past 2 weeks I have been shopping, going to stamp convention, anticipating and celebrating the arrival of a new baby girl, going on a scrapbook road trip, and being without my camera. My parents went on vacation and borrowed my camera and I have felt absolutely lost without it. I have gotten very spoilt being able to express myself through photos. It was worth them taking the camera though. They now have some really great photos of their trip to New Mexico. They got to be a part of a weekend PowWow with real Indians. I thought that was awesome. Here is a picture of my nephews watching the ceremonies. It was really great to see all the photos they were able to take using my camera. It really made it worth me being without it for all that time. Here is a few more beautiful scenery's they took.

My nephews Kyle and Kole. They are such cutie pies!!! They loved going on vacation with granny and paw paw.

Ok, now lets talk about scrapbooking. While out shopping with friends I ran across a flip flop book. I knew I had to make one so I went out and bought all the stuff to make it. Here is what I did.

Is this not the cutest book idea ever. I of course had to get 3 more pairs of flip flops, so that I could make some gifts. They are so much fun to make. I will write up the directions and put them in my next post just for you. I think everyone should have a flip flop book. So please come back later for directions.

My other scrapbook project was a 2 page layout of my children. I used a couple of sketches to make this layout.s I think it turned out pretty cute. I just need to think of a title for it and do some journaling to complete it. That is always the hardest part for me. Not sure why I think every page needs a title. I think I am stuck in ole school scrapbooking.

Ok last but surely not least is that I wanted to share that I am now a true blue Bella. I now have 4 awesome bella stamps that I cannot wait to use.

I went to stamp convention this past weekend. It was a blast mostly because of the friends I went with. We had the best time shopping together. I did not find a whole lot at the convention, but we left there and went to the scrapbook store where I purchased some Bella Stamps. This is my collection thus far. I have a wish list started and hope to get some more added to my collection very soon. You can now call me JeanieBeanieBella!!!!

Wow, I cannot believe its been 2 weeks since I blogged last. My Mom and Dad went on a vacation and needed my camara and so I have been without a way to take pictures, and I guess I think I cannot blog without pictures. LOL!!! So I have been waiting for their return. They got back safely on Saturday and I got my camara back on Sunday. So I am good to go again with pictures and blogging.

What have I been doing for 2 weeks? Well scrapbooking and cardmaking of course. Thats all I can think about. I love my hobbies so much. I think its the only thing that keeps me sane in a very insane world at times. I think about scrapbooking and cardmaking all the time. Now I just need to apply my thoughts to paper and get some stuff done. Here is what I have done over the last 2 weeks. I have made a flip flop book

I saw this idea while out shopping with my friends and knew I had to come home and make it. It was very fun to do. When I have time, I will put the directions out for everyone. So come back later.

I also did a few layouts over the last 2 weeks.

All Cracked Up!!!

My dinning room window that is!!! The weirdest thing happen yesterday. I was sitting on my couch all comfy with my laptop and I hear this pop. I really did not think much about it because my DD had gotten a balloon over the weekend and really I thought it was the balloon that popped. I just thought to myself "There goes that balloon" and back to surfing the Internet I went. Then about 2 minutes after that thought, I hear this strange sound. Like rain or something. Normally these days that would not be a surprising sound since it has rained for more than 40 something days in a row. However, this was a strange sound, so I looked up expecting to see rain. At first glance it did look like water on the window, but then I thought how is that possible since I have a covered porch. So I got up to get a closer look. To my surprise my sliding glass window was in the process of cracking. I had never seen anything like this before. It got louder and louder. I thought it was going to explode. I ran for the phone and then ducked into the hallway. Lucky my DD was taking a nap with Gracie. Sabbath was on the outside and he too was watching the window crack from a ways back. I called my DH and told him he had to get home cause the window was cracking. Then I hung up the phone and ran around the house and got Sabbath and brought him into the house and into the laundry room where he would be safe in case the window shattered. I did not want him to get hit by flying glass. I tell you I just did not know what to expect. I had never seen anything like this before. Later when DH was home, he started investigating the window. The cracking sound finally stopped and when it did, the window was totally cracked from top to bottom. We were both a little scared to get near it. So he put on lots of clothing, safety glasses and gloves. I watched from a distance as he checked the inside and then the outside. Luckily it was not the inside that cracked. It was a double pain window and so it was the outside window that cracked. So he carefully broke it and started taking out the glass. When all was said and done, he saw the problem. When the window was installed many moons ago, the installer did not get the rubber seal in right. It was pushing on the glass and after all the years of pressure, it finally broke. Amazing how that happens. So now we have a single pain window until we can decide what we want to do. We are thinking its time to get rid of the sliding glass door and put in a french type window with door. We just have to go and do some pricing. We do know it will cost at least 125.00 to replace the glass. I am thinking I would rather put that money towards the french doors. I guess we shall see. Again, never a dull moment in my household.

Ok now back to what I was doing when the window cracked. I was surfing for new ring tones for my cell phone. I found a awesome site where you can download great sounds and music for free. If you have a direct hookup from your computer to your cell phone like I do, then all you have to do is download and save to your computer and then add them to your cell phone. I found so many good ones. Here is the website http://www.mobile9.com/ Just sign up and start downloading. I think you can even download from the site directly to your cell phone. Here is one that I found the video on and I wanted to share with all of my friends who work in a office environment. Its so funny.

This past weekend was great. Friday night I met a few of my girlfriends for some scrapbook time. We had such a great time. We laughed and laughed at some of the most silly things. I just love doing that with them. Just being silly!!! Its such a stress relief. I did manage to make a layout. I took the same paper I entered into the card challenge below and made a layout. I figured I had lots of left over flowers and paper. I might as well make a layout. It really did turn out cute I think.
Saturday and Sunday I spent shopping with my family. On Saturday we went from JoAnn's, Recollections, The Scrapbucket, and the Central Market and out to eat of course. I bought a few containers and a new crop bag. I found it at JoAnn's in the art department. It is black, has wheels and handle and is perfect for all my tools ect.... I got it with a coupon for 30.00. I am loving it. I was tired of carrying my table bag. I was loosing my stuff out of it.
Sunday I had to take back one of the containers I bought cause it was broke. So I decided to go to a different JoAnn's. So off we went. I was so mad cause not only was the container sale over, they did not have one to replace the broken one. So I ended up with something entirely different to put my stickles and cats eye's in. I think now I will use it to store my ribbon in instead. I will wait and hopefully find the container I first bought for them. It was perfect. Go figure!!!

A Ratatouille Weekend

Weekend Sketch Challenge #8

I had a fabulous weekend!!! Friday night I went cropping with 4 of my girlfriends. We had such a great time laughing, scrapbooking and making cards for a card challenge. I took my laptop with me and was able to connect to the Internet and so we decided to do the Weekend Sketch Challenge #8 that was posted on Beate's blog. Thanks Beate for the challenge. It was very fun to do!!! I also finally finished my COTC friendship book. I only started it 3 months ago. Not to bad (giggle, giggle) All I need to do is add pictures of my crazy crop friends. Most of the pages were done using sketches from http://www.scrap-maps,com/ Other inspirations came from http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=820777 Scraplifting is my favorite thing to do on the Internet. I do however, try to give credit where credit is due. So thank you to these sites for all of your inspirations in making this book happen!!! Also I would like to give some credit to my Cricut. Oh how easy it was to finish up this book once I had all those awesome cartridges in my little hands. I used tags, squares, letters, flowers all from my tags, bags and boxes, George basic shapes, base camp, tear drop and opposites attract cartridges. What a fun time. Thanks Provo Craft for coming out with such a neat little machine. It sure has made my scrapbooking hobby easier.
Saturday started our Ratatouille weekend. We got up and went to the matinee showing of the new movie Ratatouille http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/ratatouille/. What a cute little movie it was. We absolutely loved it. In fact we loved it so much that I had to make my own homemade Ratatouille. Even in cartoon version it looked yummy. So after searching the Internet for a recipe and reading about it, I realized that there was not any certain way to make Ratatouille. The main ingredients were zucchini, eggplant, red peppers, onion and tomatoes. Anything else you add is just a different version of the many versions out there. So with that in mind, I came up with my own version that would be suitable for my family. Here goes......

Pepperoni and Cheese Ratatouille
1 small purple onion

1 small white onion

2 medium zucchini

1 large eggplant

1 package of large pepperoni slices

1 package of shredded mozzarella cheese

1 package of Parmesan cheese

1 container of Pecorino Romano cheese

1 clove of garlic

4 medium tomatoes

Italian Bread Crumbs

Rosemary

Thyme

Oregano

Salt

Slice onions in thin slices and saute in olive oil till onion becomes tender and slightly brown. Spread in bottom of casserole dish. Sprinkle with all 3 cheeses. Then put a layer of pepperoni over the cheese. Then slice zucchini in thin slices. Saute with olive oil and a dash of Thyme till tender and slightly brown. . Spread over peperoni's. Sprinkle with more cheese and then layer with more pepperoni. Then slice eggplant in thin slices and saute with olive oil and a dash of Oregano till tender and brown. Spread over pepperoni slices. Sprinkle with more cheese and then layer with pepperoni. Chop garlic or use press and saute with olive oil till slightly brown. Add in chopped tomatoes and a dash of Rosemary with garlic. Simmer until tomatoes are tender and semi saucy. Add salt to taste. Pour tomato mixture over the top of last layer of pepperoni. Then add the last of all 3 cheeses. Sprinkle with bread crumbs all over the top. Bake at 350 until bread crumbs are golden brown, bubbly and cheese looks melted. About 30 minutes.
I served it with salad. My husband seem to like it "OK" my DD would not even think about eating it cause of the vegetables. She watched me make it. My DS said its not as good as Lasagna, but its pretty good. He said this as he was scooping up his 2nd helping. As for me, I thought it was yummy. However, when I make it again, I will probably leave out the pepperoni. I did that for my husband and sons sake. To me though, it made it kind of greasy and took away the flavor of the vegetables. I think also, I will add less cheese. I have always thought that nothing could taste bad if it has plenty of cheese (another favor for the husband and son), but in this recipe, I think less is best. I know that is hard to believe. Next time I just want to taste the zucchini and eggplant more. Overall, I think Ratatouille will be one of my favorite dishes. Of course when I find the perfect mixture of ingredients.

My newest find is the Vitasplash drink mix. I saw a advertisement in my favorite Women's World magazine and went out the very next day and purchased some. What really caught my eye and made it stand out different than all the other drink mixes was the different health benefits this one promises. Especially the Fiber Infusion. Of course I got on the Internet and did some research and read all kinds of good things about the fiber that they use in the drink. Its Chicory Root Extract. I was very surprised to read about all the great benefits of Chicory Root. One main benefit is how it helps with putting good bacteria into the intestines and another is how it helps with sugar metabolism. I was totally sold on the drink. You get 5 grams of fiber per drink. WOWSA!!! Also it taste wonderful. Its a raspberry lemonade flavor and its very, very tasty. There are other kinds of mixes. Immune Boost which I got for my DD. Joint Support which I got for my DH. There was also a Vitamin and Calcium flavor. All different ones had significant amounts of vitamins ect... Here is website in case you want to read more about it. http://www.sturmfoods.com/minisite/vitaSplash/ Since I just got it yesterday, I can not vouch for the benefits that it claims, other than I have doubled my intake of water which is huge, but I sure can vouch for taste. All 3 of these flavors taste very good. I do believe I have found my drink of choice.

Lets talk about walking. I have been using my Leslie Sansone Walk the Walk tape. I love it. However, as I was reading my Women's World magazine, I read a article about how this lady lost 65 pounds by listening to her IPOD. I thought hmmmm... I have a IPOD. So I begin to read the article to find out how I could loose 65 pounds and it lead me to a awesome website http://www.marinaonline.com/new/index.php where you can download walking music and instructions to your IPOD for only .99 per song. So I got very excited once I previewed the songs on the website. They are very upbeat songs and she is instructing you as you go. There are songs for walking outdoors, treadmill and even songs for sitting at your desk. How cool is that!!! I cannot wait to give this a try.

I am happy to report that my MIL is doing great. She ended up not having any blockage in her heart. Praise God!!! She does have a weak heart, but there is really not a lot that can be done about that. Doctor said it could have been caused from her chemo treatments back when she had cancer. So he is going to give her some meds to help her feel better and hopefully when she gets some energy back, than she will have to do some walking (hello Leslie Sansone) to help strengthen her heart. I am just glad she did not have to have any major surgery's and she is on the mend. Thank you, Thank you for all of your prayers!!!

That's it for my weekend. Hope everyone else had as great of a weekend as I did!!! I wish all of you to have a great and awesome week ahead!!!
